Indian Higher Education

Next Decade and Beyond

Dialogue Events

DAU 4

August 17, 2021

With more than 1,000 universities and 52,000 colleges, India has one of the largest higher education markets in the world. Underpinning the scale is India's youthful demographic. The average age in India is only 29, compared to 37 in China and 38 in the United States.

The relatively young population will provide a solid workforce supply, potentially making the Indian economy even more competitive globally. However, this could only be possible when the young generation has proper access to educational resources. While the Indian government has set an ambitious plan for its development, challenges abound.

In this dialogue, we are joined by four higher education leaders to discuss this important topic, both from domestic and international perspectives.
